Hello, I would like information on my XPS 8910 mostly regarding it's GPU. Thank-You
Hello so I bought this PC from Dell (XPS 8910)

I was wondering if I may upgrade the video card. If so what are all the video cards that are compatible with the hardware that is included in the PC as of now. (Have not changed any hardware )
Say if a GTX 1080 were to be compatible , would I need to upgrade the power supply?
Also, say if the GTX 1080 was not compatible, what would be the reason for it? Is it the motherboard? Is it the PSU?
Last question, what motherboard is the my PC? The XPS 8910 that I linked above. Thank-You guys in advance!

The system will take up to 225W graphics cards - so as long as the one you want uses that or less power, it will be fine. Upgrading the power supply will be just about impossible due to the proprietary nature of the chassis and power supply. Same goes for the system board - it's a proprietary, Dell-only board.

Upgrading the power supply is easy and a standard EPS12V unit works fine. Not sure why you say that its proprietary.
The 8900 and 8910 can both use EVGA Super Nova 750 B1.

That photograph corresponds to the XPS 8900, which has a completely different chassis from the newer XPS 8910 the question asked about.
The 8910 uses a proprietary swing-out power supply -- I doubt very much whether you'll find a standard replacement power supply that can fit the 8910 chassis.
You'll see it in the service manual (and when you look inside one of these).

The XPS 8910 does not use a proprietary power supply. Its the same form factor as the EVGA power supply and another user put in an EVGA 850 Platinum and it worked Just fine. The Swing out feature is on other units Optiplex series comes to mind and is also NOT proprietary. The mounting will take a standard EPS12v this is not speculation its fact. So the statement about the 8900 AND the 8910 is false. Visually its different. Physically it works FINE with EPS12v power supply from EVGA and other Vendors. In this case its an EVGA 850 Platinum.
You have stated that Its proprietary 2 times now and both are wrong.
Its mounted wierd sideways but the screw holes, electrical connections and Dimensions are FINE for a standard EPS12v power supply on EITHER Model. The EVGA 750B1 is shorter than the 850P2 that is in this 8910. So the USB Ports on the top of the 8X00 series aka 8300 8500 8700 8900 cant be too long or it wont fit in the case. The 8910 does not have this limitation.

As posted here, the photos are of the install i did. I made a thread on it.
The 8910 will absolutely take an aftermarket supply. I have an 850 watt evga in there with a full size asus gpu. Its been rock solid in performance.

Thanks for the pictures as I was thinking of upgrading the PSU, I have added a MSI GTX 1060 to my 8910 but not able to use the Plastic graphics card support piece. how are your Temps with the new PSU? I am getting CPU temps 75-83 under load and about 50 at idle?
