inspiron 4000 won't turn on

I was given a inspiron 4000 laptop and it won't turn on. It will charge the battery but if you push the power button nothing happens. I took it all apart to make sure the motherboard wasn't damage any where and it looks find. I tried the cpu in a other laptop and it works and the memory works too. So a ruled those out. It won't turn on with battery or with it being plug in. The service tag is . All i know is the guy i got it from told me he was typing on it and it shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Hope someone can help i am lost now.

Hi GWB21471,

Based on the description, I would suspect either the power button module or the motherboard, since the battery charges fine.

This is a very old machine and Dell does not have the parts available for repair.

You could however, order the parts here - http://bit.ly/2ioHjnk

Having said this, I would personally suggest you to invest your money on a new machine than to repair this obsolete model. However, that is your discretion.

Let us know if you have any other queries.
