optiplex 5050 crashes on IE opening
getting this on the 5050 (only so far)
we open up one of our business software programs and IE immediately crashes
this seems to do with an update, but not sure which one
if we re-image the PC, the program works fine. its not till after our system pushes all the updates does it then crash at program opening
just throwing this out there to see if anyone else may have this
oce department thinks it may be related to adobe flash or something. same dept found that is they open two tabs at IE startup, it crashes...so they changed it to one tab and it works
possibly this program is "opening two tabs" ...dunno

This is not a Dell support Question.
"business software programs" depend on Java and Flash and Dotnet 2.0 3.5 etc.
So the "business software program makers need to support this."

Microsoft is not pulling Skylake systems forward with Windows 7.
This means windows updates like the latest patch for IE will fail.

See the Dell document in the link below, it states that Microsoft originally indicated Skylake support would end in 2017 for Windows 7. On March 17, 2016, Microsoft announced they extended this support through July 2018 then extend it again until January 14, 2020. Systems listed includes the OptiPlex 5000 Series (5040, 5050).

You may have better luck if you post your question to the Software & Operating Systems support forum.

Don't understand "IE7 64". Do you mean Win 7? IE should be version 11.0.9600.
You may have to install all the updates, one at a time, and reboot and test, to see if you can find the one that's affecting IE11 on this system. Then uninstall that update and hide it in Windows Update.
Have you tried disabling all add-ons in IE? Tools>Manage add-ons

lol--whoops...musta had the drank on when I posted.
Windows 7 64 Ent N, IE11
FYI-- found that the MS update "2017-09 preview rollup" fixes the issue. Not sure the actual cause of the issue though.

In enterprise environment Users do not have access to update.
The Roll up patches DOTNET and IE and Directx and and and.
The components are not islands they are all highly integrated.
Version 11 is as high as it goes then you have Edge.
So there are 65,726 update patches for IE 11
with 11.0.9600.18792 being new but that could change in as little as 6 hours.
Applies to
Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Internet Explorer
