Aurora r4 slow boot A09 Bios

is anyone else having problems with the a09 bios on the r4? after I updated it and it went to reboot system and when it tried to reload windows but the fans just revved up to full power and just sat on a black screen for like a min and wouldn't boot windows so I just hit the power button to shut it down and when I powered it back on it boots into windows but it seems to be booting a lot slower now and the fans will randomly keep revving up when its loading windows. I also upgraded to windows 8.1 from windows 8 so is it possible that might have something to do with it? is it possible to downgrade to my previous version? Or do I just wait on a new bio update?

Were they able to help you? were you able to downgrade the BIOS? Or is your system still messed up?

I had issues with the fans locking at 100% and loud after BIOS upgrade to A09.  I had also upgraded to Windows 8.1.  Because I have a NVidia 690 the Secure Boot configuration was not possible as this video card needs a ROM update to work in UEFI with Secure Boot.

  • I removed and reinstalled Command Center and this seems to have settled the fans down to work normally.  I was surprised that this works, because the fans pin to 100% before Windows even loads, but with the Windows 8/8.1 fast boot, a lot of settings are kept during power off and restart.

Other companies have released ROM updates to the NVIDIA GTX 690, but Dell has not yet.  I have managed to use one from ASUS using nvflash so that Secure Boot in UEFI now works for me with Windows 8.1, but I wish Dell would make this available for the NVidia GTX 690 I bought from them with my Aurora R4.

I have an R4 on the A07 bios. I am getting the same thing ever since going to 8.1. POST takes a bit longer and it sits at the Alienware logo for a few seconds before booting up. I did have an issue with a non-working hard drive fan that took post even longer but once I got the Hard Drive fan swapped out, it doesn't take as long but it's still longer. Also, rather than the Alienware lights staying on until windows loads, the lights will come on during post and until the screen, where all lights will shut off. Sometimes the keybard and mouse lights will stay on. Once I log into Windows, the lights come back on. The only other change I made was going from Nvidia 301 or 306 drivers to the latest 331 but that was before the 8.1 update and my pc was still booting normal. So it's definitely something with the 8.1 update. I have secure boot turned off. I wander if that has something to do with it too, that maybe windows is looking for secure boot or something. In the event log, there is a failure about not finding secure boot or not being enabled.

So in a nutshell, slower since 8.1 updates and the lights go on, off, then on during boot, whereas before they stayed on. My fans do get pretty high a couple of times more than normal and I even thing one time when it was idling in windows 8.1.
