M17xR3 Battery ???
Hey guys I just wanted to know whether the battery in the new alienware m17xr3 models is a 'smart' battery or not ? Do i keep it plugged in all the time or do I disconnect it when it reaches full charge ??
I remember I completely ruined the battery on my old laptop because I did not unplug it after it was completely charged so after about a year of doing that the old laptop would run for about 10 minutes of the battery and then it would die again. I just wanted to make sure I do not kill the battery on this laptop like that.

Generally, now-days (since those laptops caught on fire a few years back) most Lithium laptop batteries are smart-charging to prevent over-charging.
Unlike Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries (who should be cycled down near zero to prevent a life building up) ... it's generally recommended to keep them fully charged always (or when-ever possible). Charging partially depleated Lithiums is fine. In fact, if they ever get too low, they might be damaged.

If it's Lithium-Ion or Lithium-Polymer (which I'm sure it is) then yes.
However, I would still run it on battery 3-4 times a month to "exercise" the battery.
Whether or not it has a true "Smart Charging Circuit" I wouldn't dare to guess (after all ... you are looking for a definite answer) but I bet Dell-Chris_M could find out for you.
