M11xR2: Purplish alien head above keyboard when set to white

What color is it when you choose something other than white?

Thanks for the input.

Have tried (one of each of the shades of) green, red, blue and even purple. All these appear as I think they should. While white appears whiter than purple, it does have a purple hue to it.

Thoughts?

Post a picture of the white/purple alien head here so other M11x-R2 users can compare. I doubt it is a hardware issue.

The keyboard lighting is off so it's easier to see the purply colour.

If this is the only thing wrong with my M11x I'd be most pleased!

I've noticed that "white" isn't 100% white on my Alienware machines (I've got three of them). It does sorta have a slight purplish tint to it. Try setting all the other lighting to white and see if the color is the same. I'm not sure anything is wrong with the yours from looking at your pic. My 2 cents worth.

Thanks Chris. Not wanting to put words in your mouth but are you saying that from what you can see in my photo that the purply white alien head is 'normal' for the M11xR2 when the head is set to white?

I dont think you are alone on this buddy. Here is a shot of white on my M15x Alienhead power button:

Clearly, you can see a mix of blue and some red/pink tint. I dont think that is white.......or is my color vision messed up? LOL.

My guess is that its a either a software programming error with the colors, but who knows.

EDIT - Also, I just noticed it in other areas as well The Alienhead on the LCD screen has slight red tint around the eyes and towards the top of the head, and the media buttons also have a pretty noticeable red tint. This also occurs with yellow, or other bright colors.

I think it might be because of this (white is actually a mixture of different colors).

Or, have you ever noticed how LED flashlights have a slight blue tint to them? The second way described uses a blue led with a special coating.

What I was trying to say was that its probably a software error in the brightness for each individual light. Some are probably shining more than the others, etc.

All I know is, it aint showing up as a solid white color. I can see the 2 or 3 seperate colors, which really shouldnt occur.

Ok, I just tested it. The alien head on my Aurora looks similar when set to white. If I look closely, I can see the red and blue areas (and purple of course). The white works a little better for me because the alien eyes are open, allowing more space for the colors to mix.

And since it's a mixture of light, different external light source types affect the color before it reaches your eye. When they calibrated it (if they calibrated it at all) it would have to be done in complete darkness.
