How to migrate windows 10 from HDD to a SATA SSD

Hello,

I just bought an Alienware 17 R3 and as you know there is only one SATA slot for storage. I already have a SATA SSD with which I intend to replace the HDD it comes with but my issue is how do I reinstall or migrate the original Windows it comes with to my SSD as I can only have either the HDD or the SSD inside.

I was thinking to migrate windows to a USB drive and then migrate from the USB to SSD but no idea how to do this. Google didn't help me that much this time.

Regards.

Hi,

Some of the cloning programs that you could try are Norton Ghost, Acronis and EaseUS. Regarding AlienRespawn, if your computer is running on Windows 10 it won’t work, because there isn’t a version that is Windows 10 compatible yet.

Hello,

We recommend doing a clean installation of Windows when upgrading your HDD/SDD. However, there are cloning programs that can be optimized to transfer data from one HDD/SSD to the other. There is also a Microsoft media creation tool that allows to create your own installation media with either a USB flash drive or a DVD. The tool provides file formats optimized for download speed and can be used to create ISO files. Click here for the Microsoft media creation tool link.

Thank you for the advice. I know about the Microsoft Windows tool but I was wondering for some opinion and more information regarding cloning software. Are Alienware Respawn and Alienware Autopsy any good for this matter as I managed to finally found a guide that seems to do what I have in mind. I will leave the link below:
