Can the Aurora R3 motherboard with the R1 ALX mio board?

I had bought a alienware aurora alx, the board went bad on me, so i decided to update the board and so, the venting and lights arent working. The bios version that came on the motherboard is A05, i am not sure about the MIO firmware version, but the orange light comes on the MIO board and all the interior lights work so i still having hope that it isnt bricked. Thanks in advance

Test MIO-Board with Dell Diags (outside of Windows).

What is the function of the mio board, and is it a case that the alx mio board can work on a r3 motherboard?

It controls the fans, lights, louver fins and everything else hooked up to it (see PDF Owners and Service Manuals).

The Aurora R1 and Aurora R3 use the same MIO-Board.

ALX Model MIO-Boards are a little different than Non-ALX boards because they do more things (all the extra parts and headers are soldered in).

Pretty sure the R3 could have been ordered from factory as Aurora-R3-ALX model. If so, it would use the same MIO-Board as Aurora-R1 ALX.

Basically, only the motherboard changed between R1 and R3.

So can it be a case that the command center can be a issue or the windows 7 because the interior lights are working

Well that's the thing, there are no batteries for the internal lights, its just connected to the mio board, when I turn the computer on and take off the side panel the lights come on

1. Dell Diags operates outside of Windows and removes these from equation: Windows-7, Command Center, MIO-Board drivers

2. Interior lights run from AA batteries. I don't think the MIO-Board has to be working for them to turn on.

the batteries are behind the black plastic cover near the optical bays.

Anyway, whether they are on or not ... I wouldn't use that as any indication about the condition of the MIO-Board. I already told you how to check it with Dell Diags. How are you doing with that?

If it doesn't detect (and allow to be tested) in Dell Diags ... it will never work in Windows.
