Alienware M15x r1 Poor Performance

I'm currently running this machine for nearing 6 years now , everything work fine till I replaced my old HDD with new Hitachi 1TB 7400rpm . After replacement complete I experienced all graphic suffering and poor performance . Playing Need 4 Speed Most Wanted at 1600x900 at normal setting 60FPS sometimes drop to 34FPS and 23 FPS , then back to normal FPS . Dell quick test and full test result show no fatal error in my machine . I disabled Intel Speed Step technology in BIOS to increase performance but still didn't work as I hope , It only make everything worse . System CPU And GPU heat dynamic at 60-70 Degree in full load .  Now the CPU lock down at 0.90 Ghz and not changing it speed. I think maybe the adapter can't provide enough electric to operate system normaly. ( Could it be ? )
Thanks

Hello,

What operating system are you running on?

Have you reloaded your drivers? You can try the steps below:

  1. Uninstall NVIDIA graphics driver. You can use Revo uninstaller.
  2. Uninstall Intel graphics driver
  3. Reinstall Intel graphics driver from Dell’s support page.
  4. Reinstall NVIDIA graphics driver from their website.

Also, you said you upgraded your hard drive to 1TB, but the most that we have certified on this computer is 750GB. I’m not sure if that is the root cause of the problem, because we’ve never tried it on this unit before, but it could have something to do with it.

Regarding the AC adapter, the 150W is enough for this unit.

I did , and I installed lastest , or original driver from dell , it didn't work.

How am I can uninstall Intel graphic driver when my operating system did not reconized it ? it just showing GTX 260M is the only video adapter here.

I let dell diagnostic check me system but it didn't list my intel graphic , is something wrong with it ?

Like a said frome above.

I'm Using Windows 8.1 Pro

Did this come computer have an m/SATA?  What is the cache on the Hard Drive?  Did you clone the hard drive, or reinstall from the beginning?  Perhaps, delete and reinstall the drivers for the MOBO.

How old did you say the computer is?   I have found I like Windows 10 much better than Windows 8.1.   If all the drivers exist for Windows 10, then surely I would do that upgrade.  I asked the owner of the local computer store why Windows 10 actually works pretty well.  He said because, "M$ removed all the junk that was not needed."

I run this machine for 6 years , since 2010 , the problem still exist even you reinstall a new windows version. I run this machine in factory setting ( maybe ) because I was reset m BIOS to factory , HDD is wipe clean , HDD cache is 64 mb , And btw what is MOBO ?

Sorry I was not of much use.  MOBO is shorthand for Motherboard.  I was referring to the drivers for the MotherBoard, probably available to you through Dell Download.

You might look through the BIOS/EFI (whichever is correct for your computer) and see if one of those settings might not look right to you.  One also reinstall the Firmware for the BIOS/EFI.

I am not the correct person to be talking about this computer.    I am not an Alienware Expert.   I have never owned the model of computer that you have.   I do hope that might posting might bump this to the top of the Forum, and one of the Alienware Experts might come along and be helpful.
