Inspiron 1520 can't connect to wifi

So I got an old Inspiron 1520 from somebody awhile ago, and I can't connect to the wifi in my house. I'm thinking the problem is my network drivers aren't up to date. I used an ethernet cord to connect the laptop to the internet, and it says the drivers are up to date. the main one's are Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller and Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. Are they up to date or not? If not, how do I get compatible drivers and install them to the laptop? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

What version build of win 10 are you using?

There was an initial problem with both wifi and Ethernet connection if you upgraded your original win 10 build to the Creators update that was ironed out with the 2nd August 2017 cumulative update. The problem actually lay in the Broadcom stack and not the wireless drivers (All worked well version 1607 i.e. the version preceding the Creators update).

I know all of this as I am typing this reply on a 1520 using windows 10 32bit version 1709 build 16299.201
