XPS 8900 Slow Inter Speed
We have three Dell desktops connected to our Spectrum modem/router that claims to provide 100 Mbps download speed. All three computers are connected via Ethernet to the router.
Our two older Inspiron's both test out at slightly more than 100 Mbps using Spectrum's Ookla Speed Test.
However, using the same wired connection to the router, my XPS 8900 never exceeds 35 Mbps. Does this mean the network adapter in the XPS 8900 is simply slow? Are there other likely reasons for the poor performance?
Device Manager reports the network adapter in the XPS as:
Inter (R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V
By the way, I also get 35 Mbps if I connect the XPS 8900 to the Spectrum router via wi-fi.
Any ideas for improving the Internet connection speed for my XPS 8900?

The onboard Ethernet Intel I219-V supports speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbps. Use the free Intel DSA (Driver Support Assistant) utility to check and if needed install the latest Intel Chipset and Ethernet drivers. When done, restart the XPS 8900 and retest.

The Intel DSA utility reports: Sorry, no software updates are available.
Are there further steps you can suggest?

You mentioned "Spectrum modem/router". Is that meaning that the Spectrum modem is a standalone device that is then connected to a wireless router, which the 8900 are then plugged into? If so, have you hard reset the wireless router, then setup a new password on it?

Hi Chris -
Spectrum is my ISP. For our Internet connection, they provide an ARRIS TG1672G cable modem that includes a 4-port Gigabit Router and 802.11n wireless access point. All functions -- cable modem, router, wi-fi -- are built into a single box.
Our three Dell computers are connected directly to the Ethernet ports on the back of the modem/router. In the Ookla speed test, two of three computers always achieve speeds of 100-110 Mbps. However, my XPS 8900 never exceeds 35 Mbps.
I have reset the ARRIS box several times by removing its power, waiting 60 seconds, then powering it up. The result is always the same: the XPS 8900 never exceeds 35 Mbps on the speed test.

Test the slow 8900 on every NIC jack on the ARRIS TG1672G. See if the same slow speed exist on every port. This will take some digging on your part. On one of the 8900 that gets 100-110 Mbps, open the Device Manager- Networking- Intel I219-V. Open Driver tab, write down the data. Close the Device Manager. Open Control Panel- Network and Sharing Center. Click Change adapter settings. Right click Intel I219-V, click Properties. Open every tab and write down the settings. Then go to the slow 8900 and compare the settings.
