Dell Precision T7610 random freeze

Hi

I have a problem with my Dell T7610 workstation.

It keeps on freezing randomly, then the screen goes off and I need to hard reset the computer to get it back on again. No specific program (that I know of) triggers the freeze.

Troubleshooting I have done:

1.) Update GPU driver (GTX 780)
2.) Complete uninstall gpu driver and reinstall.
3.) Turn of C-state and Speedstep in bios
4.) PCI express - link state power management - off
5.) Reinstalled windows 10
6.) Did a full diagnostic test on Dell support website, no problems found.
7.) System file checker, no problems found.
8.) Nvidia 3d settings - power management mode - maximum performance

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Jean

Have you checked your System Event Viewer? What errors are recorded there at around the time of the crash?

Also, do a thorough RAM diagnostic.

thanks for your answer. I did a DELL diagnostic and fail on 1 of the video card. I remove it and the pc didn´t crash again in the meantime. look like still working fine.

The event viewer doesn't show nothing estrange before that.

Thanks for your answer.

Thanks for your reply, nothing wrong with this video card.

I'll send you the system event checker information when it happens again.

recently i've been searching for possibility to fix this issue especially during gaming. my T7610 will keep freezing randomly and screen goes black and i have to do hard reset, so i found the root cause because the system bio's automatic fan does not increase fan speed when there's high temp in your GPU. because that is your GPU heat issues and that's the reason it got screen blacked.. but it's an easy fix. simply download "argus monitor" to let this tool to help manage your fan control when your GPU heat spike . the fan will blow the heat away and then you'll not get the random freeze.

steps:

1. download and install Argus Monitor https://www.argusmonitor.com/en/index.php
2. open the program and go to "GPU " and select SOFTWARE CONTROLLED and you'll see there's button CURVE . this function will help you manage your fan control speed when your GPU temp high to cool down the heat. (you can adjust the temp C vs fan speed %. but i leave it to the default as it's good enough.

3. enjoy . and have been playing without any problem so far.  hope this helps your problem.

Jimmy
