I have the same issue after updating Bios

I also posted a question but no one replied ("https://www.dell.com/community/Vostro/Vostor-143468-mostly-don-t-register-key-not-keyboard-issue/m-p/6190610#M2400")

When we put anything under one side of the laptop, means if we lift up the laptop from one side only the keys will not miss,Key works on the second press if we press hold backspace or any other key and hit the laptop, you will see that backspace, key well stop working after slapping on the side of touch pad.

My touch pad also does not work in bios

Same problem here. My keyboard has been replaced once and it worked okay for a while but now it's back to intermittently not registering keystrokes.

Dell support wants to replace the keyboard again.

I am using Dell Vostro 3468 too and having the same issue since Nov 2017. The support guy even replaced the motherboard but it persisted after 6 months. I'm about to buy from another brand

I am also having the same issue with my Dell Vostro 14 3468 for the last three years since the laptop was brand new. It has been really a nuisance using the dell on-board keyboard because I have to hit the same key several times to notice its effect on the screen. I cannot type normally on my Dell laptop. I have to keep one eye on the specific key and the other key on the screen to see the effect of the repeated keystrokes. I feel much better using my seven year old vaio laptop but this Dell laptop....I have changed its keyboard also. Since the issue was persisting I reinstalled the genuine dell keyboard since the cause of the problem does not seem to be from keyboard mechanics itself. I have typed this paragraph using a logitech wireless keyboard because it is impossible to type these many characters in a single day on the dell laptop keyboard.

Hello,

You can give this a try.

Method 1: Update Keyboard driver.

Follow the steps to update the Keyboard drivers:
1. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
2. Expand the Keyboard.
3. Right-click on the Keyboard driver and click on Update driver software.
4. Restart the computer and check.

Method 2: Try Uninstalling and then reinstalling the keyboard drivers.

Follow the steps below:
1. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
2. Expand the Keyboard.

3. Right-click the keyboard driver and click Uninstall.
4. Restart the computer, let Windows detect the driver and install by itself.

For lag try this:

  1. Click the Windows log and choose Settings.
  2. Go to Update & Security and choose Troubleshoot.
  3. Click Hardware and Devices, then choose Run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Adjust Filter Keys Setting

In Windows 10, there is a feature called Filter Keys. If it is enabled, it may slow down the input of brief or repeated keys and also may not notice the keystrokes that happen continuously. So, turning it off may fix the issue of keyboard input lag.

  1. Head to Settings > Ease of Access.
  2. Click Keyboard and turn off the Filter Keys feature.

Method 3: Reinstall or Update the Keyboard Driver

Windows 10 keyboard lag can be caused by corrupted or old keyboard driver. So, trying to reinstall or update it can be a good solution.

  1. Right-click the Start button and choose Device Manager.
  2. Find your keyboard driver, right-click on it and choose Uninstall device to remove it or choose Update driver to update it.
  3. Then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the corresponding operation.

Method 4: Run DISM

Sometimes the corruption and misconfigurations of your computer can lead to the issue - keyboard typing delay Windows 10. If that is the case, you can try the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool that can help fix Windows corruption errors easily.

Here is how to do it:

1. Run Command Prompt with admin rights.

2. Input the following commands in order and type Enter after each one:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

For all you guys,

Its not about the driver or keyboard. I have the same problem for more than 2 years.

By chance I add 8gb ram in my system for software running (total ram now 8+8) and waoooooo. Everything fix now. Keyboard working fine and running like there was never a problem.

You have to increase the ram to fix this problem.

Its i7, 7th generation and i think 8 gb ram is not enough for proper working. Firstly I planned to change my laptop due to this keyboard probelm but that extended ram experiment really save me a lot of money. Now I am really enjoying my laptop.
