This guy had a similar problem:

https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/WavesSysSvc-15-20-CPU-usage-XPS-15-9570/td-p/6221760

I updated just the RealTek Audio via his instructional and as soon as the update completed my fan shut off and the WavesSysSvc dropped to the bottom of Task manager using 0% CPU and only 2.2MB of RAM.

For me the exact same solution as mentioned above:

"My RealTek Audio driver was already updated, but I had to look under Software Components in the Device Manager and tell it to update the driver for Waves Audio Effects Component. After it updated the driver version was  3.2.0.76 and utilization by WavesSysSvc immediately dropped from 20% to 0%. "

also worked!, Device Manager > Software Components > Waves Audio Effects Component > Right Click > Properties > Driver > Update Driver > and have it search automatically

The issue was gone immediately after that, without reboot.

This has now been addressed in an update to the Realtek Audio driver: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=88TTT

Thanks for driver tip vibber - however, uninstaller worked, installer failed on Inspiron 15 - 5570 with some incompatibility error... retried with run as administrator. Hmm. ok, trying the recommended one via the support assistant.

File Name: Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_MMKKK_WIN_6.0.1.8555_A12_02.EXE

Will post update after I retry ... By the way, there are a number of recommended manual updates to do including BIOS etc.

Did NOT work on my Precision 5520. Installed latest driver version 6.0.1.8569, A13. After restart again >30% CPU. Very bad!

It appears the latest release (see below) has started causing this issue again when using any type of docking station. Which is funny because the fix included in this update was supposed to improve the sound quality while docked

Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_88YYY_WIN_6.0.1.8569_A19.EXE

I have the same problem. For example at the moment WaveSysSvc Service Application is using 23.8% of the CPU, for no reason (there is no music playing or any other audio being used). My XPS 13 is connected to a Dell USB 3.0 Ultra HD/4K Triple Display Docking Station (D3100). What can be done?

Same problem here as well.... XPS13 - 9370 on WD15 usb-c docking. The issues appeared after the last update to the sound driver

same here, Windows takes forever to come up, 30-40% CPU by WavesSysSvc service. This is on my Dell Latitude 5490 (Intel Core i5-7300U).

I have also same issue with 7490 and the WD15 dock.

I installed latest Realtek USB audio drivers packages available:

a) Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_88YYY_WIN_6.0.1.8569_A19.EXE

b) Docks_Stands_Driver_RRFDW_WN32_6.3.9600.2202_A13_03.EXE

But problem remains, WavesSysSvc Service Application High contant 25% CPU and Fan Constantly Runs.

This is unbelievable from Dell :-(
