Moving CIFS to another pool.

I have a CIFS server that was created on economy pool (clar_r5_economy) which is using FC disks. I would like to move it to lower cost disks on different pool (clarata_archive)

How can I accomplish this? Impact?

just replicate or nas_copy the VDM as well then

a CIFS server itself needs only a few megabytes and ist stored either on the data mover rootfs or VDM rootfs
moving it is rarely needed

I assume you want to move data file systems that are mounted on a data mover or VDM and used by a CIFS server

In that case the easiest way is to use Celerra Replicator or nas copy

with Replicator the impact in terms of downtime is pretty short

or you can use classic file-based copy like emcopy or robocopy

in either case - once you're done copying, just unmount the old fs and mount the new fs on the same path and your shares will work with the new fs

How can I ensure that users cannot write to shares while copying it? otherwise i will have outdated version when mounting the new one....

same as with every other migration

you could stop CIFS or ifconfig down the interface or unload the VDM or ....

If you use full Replicator it will also copy changes - please take a look at the Replicator manual to learn the concepts
