pretty sure you have to be in Engineering mode.
once they are disconnected physically and de-resgistered you should no longer see them.
if they are no longer in connectivity status but you see them under the hosts tab then they are considered Ghost entries. for the ghost entries you can try restarting the management servers of both SP's
http://IPaddres/setup
if that does not remove them the SP's will need to be rebooted. you can reboot one Stroage processor at a time, this will remove the ghost entries

Also make sure there are no switch zones still active with the hosts and the array ports.

If host is going to be decommissioned then as mentioned above you must de-register your HBA¿s
1. Take Host out of SG.
2. Remove FC cables from host or block that specific port.
3. In connectivity status (sometimes in ENG mode pending on code) de-register the HBA¿s associated with host.
4. Once removed restart management server (On both SP¿s) to ensure all GUI views are synced. Not only will host not show in Host tabbed but will be removed completely.
If you are not decommissioning the box and it¿s in use but you are showing it as unmanaged then ensure the following.
1. Agent.config (on host) has the SP addresses in file.
2. Ensure all IP communication ports have been made available.
3. Stop and restart Agent (or reboot host) whichever one is available.
4. Restart Mgmt server on both SP¿s (you might need to do this step again pending on the network traffic.
Hope this helps.

The only effect is on the management part , navisphere manager will be not available for a couple of minutes until all the Navi services will finish the restart process .

Basically, you go to the normal address with a /setup at the end.
For example, if your cx was named CX700-1
In your browser, you would go to CX700-1a/setup
You would then select the option to restart the management server.
Then, you would go to CX700-1b/setup
You would then select the option to restart the management server.
It can take a couple of minutes for the SP's to become managed again.

I have to remove an unmanged host permanently from a CX-500 which happens to be a master of a domain of three others. will re-starting the management server have any effect on the other CX-500s in the domain?
Thanks

Restarting the Management Service is like stopping a service on your PC, the service will start back up by itself. Do one SP at a time and wait until the service starts before restarting the other Management Server -
