Advanced File Type Device write to 2 Storage Nodes

Hello, new to the forum here but wanted to see if anyone else has run into this problem.  Have a case open with EMC support at the moment.

Running Networker 7.6 on a windows 2003 server

I have 2 media pools and the data source is restricted to it's proper group

2 groups

in each group i have the same client.  The saveset is different for each group though.  One backs up to the networker server and the other backs up to a Storage Node.  On the globals 2 of 2 tab for the client I can put the nsrserverhost and the remote storage node in the Storage Nodes area but whichever is listed first will complete.  The second one will give a error "waiting for 1 writable volume..." on the wrong storage node.

Since the client configuration is a global setting does anyone know of a way to get around this so the client can write to 2 separate storage nodes successfully?

Thanks in advance,

Isaac

Isaac,

You can achieve this by limiting the pool used for the backup you wish to direct to the storage node to the devices on the storage node (settings are on pool under selection criteria - just tick the device/s you want to use).

This also means anything directed to this pool will need to have the storage node configured also within the storage node lists (if it affects other clients in the future).

Thanks for the reply Bill, I already have the devices selected under selection criteria to restrict the backups to their specific pool but I still have the same problem.  I'm waiting right now on a new nsrd.exe from EMC.  We'll see if that does the trick I guess.  If so I'll post what version it is in case anyone else has this same problem.
