importing snmp events from an snmp poller into smarts

How is it possible to import snmp events from an snmp poller into smarts with using a smarts log adapter to read events from a log file to display on SAM via OI

Hi,

I could think about converting the SNMP polls into logs using custom adapters and then to use the syslog adapter to handle the flat file.

What are we trying to achieve here?

Ideally we should have traps for these scenarios.

please throw more light on this based on which we can provide more inputs.

Cheers,

Gopal

we have a third party application that polls devices and we want to export that into smarts . I am sure we have to write some code to act like an adapter but not sure how

There is little info in your post to go with. You need to provide more details for folks to understand what needs to be done.

What is the 3rd party application?

What does it do that Smarts cannot do?

What are its integration capabilities of this app, can it send traps?

Is it enough just to get the events as traps or do you need to get the topology?
