Do we need another DAE for running iSCSI ?
Hi,
Currently, we have 2 DAE - 1 for FC HD and other for SATA HD (with spare space) for our CX4 system. If we would like to deploy iSCSI in the near future, does it mean that we have to purchase another DAE for iSCSI ?
Does the disk for iSCSI is also SATA Disk ?
Thanks

as long as you don't mix FC and SATA drives in the same DAE ..then yes. But once again ..iSCSI is just the protocol.

iSCSI is just another protocol to deliver your storage, you don't need to purchase separate DAE/drives for it.

Tony...ISCSI is a method of connecting servers to an array, and does not require DAE's.
You dont need a new DAE unless you have no storage space left to assign to the iSCSI servers.

Thanks for your advice.
My understanding is we can add more SATA disk to the existing DAE and configure it as iSCSI. Is it correct ?
Thanks

buy from the same vendor you bought your array from, easier with maintenance and support
