Replacing 10K 600's with 15K 600's
VNX Community:
We configured and shipped a VNX 5500 with 50+ 10K 600GB disks to a customer. The disks should have been configured as 15K disks, not 10K disks. So, we're taking steps to make that right, and we're getting new, replacement 15K disks shipped to the customer as we speak.
However, I'm wondering about the procedure to swap these disks. I can't find a procedure generator that addresses disk swaps for the system.
FYI, the 10K's are the vault disks, also.
The system has not yet been powered up.
My intuition says to swap all of the disks, except for the vault disks, prior to power-up, and then swap the vault disks one at a time after power up (letting the new disk be completely rebuilt before the next one is swapped, of course). But I am not certain that this is the correct procedure.
Any thoughts, RTFM's, etc.?
Thanks in advance,
Eric
