What does [remote and local] attachment refers to in the output of symcfg list?
Hi,
What does the attachment mean in the output of symcfg.exe? (for ex, please see below for sample output)
Is the management of both local and remote arrays same - or, some commands/features wont work for storage arrays which are attached remote?
C:\Program Files\EMC\SYMCLI\bin>symcfg.exe list
S Y M M E T R I X
Mcode Cache Num Phys Num Symm

Local means that the SYMAPI server you’re working on has direct access to gatekeepers on the array. Remote means that the SYMAPI server can see/control the array via an SRDF link from one of the local arrays. You can do pretty much anything on a remote array that you can on a local array.

Local is the array that the host you ran the command on is connect to.
Remote is the SRDF relationships to the local array.

Hi Sean,
If you have some time, can you take a look at symdev show -sid throws "The specified RA group is not valid" and let me know your thoughts.
Best Regards,
