NW 8.1 and DD Integration--Cloning Feature

Hello,

I'm trying to wrap my head around whether I should use the "cloning" feature within NW 8.1 to perform my "replication" to another DD appliance at the DR site, OR just perform a "Collection" replication within the Data Domains. Can someone enlighten me?

Use CCR as it is more friendly and all is controlled under one umbrella.  When it comes to DR, it is easier to use it.

I would use the cloning controlled replication (CCR) as the NetWorker would be aware of the cloned information. In case of a disaster you could simply recover the index and bootstrap a the disaster site and use the same configuration to restore the data without any hassle.

seems pretty straight forward but i don't have a replication site in my environment so haven't got the opportunity to test this.

Hrvoje Crvelin and CrazyRov,

You wouldn't happen to know exactly "how" to simply recover the index and bootstrap to the DR Networker server? Using CCR should be more friendly than DD replication, but it's still not easy and does not seem to be well documented.

I have the same situation. Production NW 8 saving to production Data Domain and then cloning to the DR DD. The data gets to the DR DD. It's a matter of how to actually get the bootstrap and indexes out of the DR DD and into the DR NW server that's the problem.

Server is in cluster with standby node on DR site or you have independent server there?
