Wait Time calculation- Discrepancies

Hello everyone,

I am trying to know how i can calculate the wait time metrics for a disk in clariion environment using SMI-S provider. What i came to know from SNIA site that wait time is calculated as follows:

Wait Time = Response Time - Service Time

Can somebody please let me know if the above formula is correct or not for calculating wait time metric?

I can build correctly response time and service time metrics as per SNIA reference. These metrics are validated as well using Solar-wind storage manager and correct as well. Only difference is coming in wait time metrics. Any input on this highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Sheron for sharing this!

Is this formula correct? Is this formula for calculating the wait time is confirmed by the EMC?

Hello Arasto02,

This calculation is something I use when it comes to any array Response time ~= Service Time + Wait Time

However if think you have a performance issue and wants to figure where the problem exists then there would be a lot to check to identify where the problem is.

From incorrect configuration to a failed component,  to the spindle used and the RAID chosen.

I will check if there is any documentation from EMC that talks about the same.

However if performance is what you are concerned about then you might find these links pretty useful.
