Storage Capacity Planning: How to decide the number of hotspares per a set of disk drives
Hi All,
I have a query regarding storage capacity planning.
We have three sets of disks, one set of SATA disks, one set of FC disks and another set of EFD disks. How do we decide the number of hotspare disks for each set for a V-Max 20K?

Sparing rules for VMAX 20K:
-FC and SATA disks: at least 2 spares per 100 usable disks (rounding up to nearest 100)
-FC and SATA disks: minimum of 8 spares total combined
-EFD: 1 spare for the first 32 usable EFDs, 2 per 100 usable EFDs above that (rounding up to nearest 100)
