Can I connect a RecoverPoint Cluster to multiple storage arrays?

Can I have a VNX & Unity Array connected to a RPA cluster at the source side replicating to a single array at the target side?

Thanks

Yes, install each cluster as full RP using the RP Installer Wizard in the DM Tool (and not RP/SE using the RP/SE Installer Wizard) and license each array as RP/EX.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply!

Actually to be more precise, I am looking for a way to replace a Local VNX that is replicating to another Remote VNX by a UNITY array while keeping the RecoverPoint replication up and running. We have the RecoverPoint SE license.

Any way we can do this?

Best Regards,

Hi Nuno,

Firstly, you will have to convert the current system from RP/SE to full RP and apply temporary EX licensing for each of the arrays. These can be acquired via an SR. The conversion is a mandatory requirement as the Unity array cannot exist in a typical RP/SE system as an RP/SE system is specific to VNX arrays only as per the Installer option in the DM tool.

Once the system has been converted you can add the Unity array into the designated RP cluster and establish its volumes as part of a target local copy in the respective CGs. Once the copy reaches an Active state you can failover to it, set it as production and initiate replication to the remote copy. Replication to the previous Prod copy on the VNX array is an optional choice (as is the remote copy but you will definitely want to keep this copy). You can perform this activity on an ad-hoc CG basis in conjunction with host management.

Once you have fully migrated over to the Unity array you simply replace the temporary EX licensing with SE licensing. Note that any license change (add or removal of the license files) does not impact replication.

Rich
