Logic behind multiple Internal Pools (with same RAID/Drive Capacity/SPEED) under a single SRP in VMAX AFA?
Array Configuration:-
######################
VMAX250F
54 EFD Drives
7.2TB Drive Capacity
RAID-5(3+1)
1 SRP having 16 Pools Created
We have an AFA Array as mentioned above, we only 1 RAID Type (RAID-5(3+1)) and same Capacity (7.2TB) EFD drives for all 16 Internal Pool.
My question here is since we use only 1 type RAID and same type of Drive Capacity with same SPEED why cant we create a single Pool having all the drives with 1 RAID and Map to
a single SRP. What is the logic (reasons/best practices) behind the creation 16/multiple Internal Pools even though we use same kind of Tiered/Capacity/SPEED Drives across the array?
I can understand the logic if it is a Hybrid VMAX3 array where we can apply FAST and move data chunks across multiple Tiers for better performance.

These pools are used for compression. Each pool is used for differently compressible extents. Please see the White Paper at this URL for a more in-depth explanation:
