Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF no front USB 3.0 ports

According to the Dell visual guide for the Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF it should have two USB 3.0 ports out of the four on the front panel. However the system I have appears to only have 4 USB 2.0 ports. There are two functioning USB 3.0 ports on the back panel.

In the BIOS the front USB 3.0 are enabled, along with the master USB 3.0.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest A24 (from A05), but it hasn't worked on either version.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That is pretty funky

Now are the ports all labeled the same on the panel itself? Or do two have the SS icon?

The best way to check if they are physically USB 3.0 ports is look inside

Thanks for replying to this. I didn't receive a notice of your reply.

The ports are in fact USB 3.0. The correct markings (SS) are on the case for the top two and with a bit of fiddling around I was able to confirm that the additional USB 3.0 connectors were indeed inside the ports.

Thanks again for your help with this. Just an update, today I plugged in Toshiba USB 3.0 external HDD and was able to copy between it and another USB 3.0 external HDD at 100MBps, in the range of USB 3.0 speeds. I have to do some more testing to see if the problem in general is resolved or if the problem only occurs with a combination of particular devices/drive and where they are copying to.
