Have you run the Dell hardware diagnostics?

 F12 at powerup.

Hi ejn63,

thanks for the suggestion, i ran the diagnostic and all the test results passed. no errors were found in any of the components, it seems like all my system hardware are intact. I referred a post before in regard to this error. so here are the list of software running on my system. my observation says it happens whenever i am connected to streaming web sites like youtube , netflix the system shuts down sometimes with and sometimes without error "the parameter is incorrect". may be you can suggest me if any of the softwares on my system might be conflicting with the streaming application running on the internet and causing this error.

Folks,

I am having the same problem. I am using a dell Inspiron 700m with XP. Every couple days my computer crashes without warning. Just before it crashes is displays an error message for about 2 seconds. The error says "The parameter is incorrect" and then POOF.

What in the world? Does anyone know how to solve this? Raghavendra, did you have any luck?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Can you tel me the nature of your issues. i am still stuck wit it. my system crashes while visiting streaming websites like youtube, netflix etc. as per my findings it happens due to language pack. so i installed service pack 2 and 3. it didnt happen for few weeks. but now i am back to square one. you can try installing that too. check microsoft site for this error mean while. i get a updates info from microsoft to install microsoft genuine check software. i have genuine xp installed on my sys, i am planning to give a shot wit that one as well. best luck, pls do post your reply if you find out the solution

Raghavendra,

My system crashes suddenly, I don't see any reason! Just today it froze, instead of crashing, completely unresponsive. I turned it off and restarted it and now it is sooooo slowwwww it might as well be frozen! It took over 10 minutes to boot up! My computer has gremlins :(. I guess I'll try and do a system restore if I can get the thing to respond! I'll keep you up to date. Let me know if you solve the problem.

Daniel
