Inspiron 15 5570, headphone jack not working

Hi there!

I keep having the same issue with my headphone jack. Whenever I plug headphones into the jack, they are not recognized and sound continues coming through the speakers. I've tried several different pairs of headphones, so this is definitely an issue with the laptop. I uninstalled the audio drivers and reinstalled them. This seems to work sometimes, but the problem reoccurs every time I restart my laptop.

There are many different 5000 series models.  What is the exact model?  Also what OS?

Please try the following:

Uninstalling and Reinstalling Audio Drivers Manually

a. Open the Device Manager from your Control Panel

b. Under Sound, video and game controllers, look for Realtek Audio

c. Right-click and uninstall the device. Please check the box next to 'Delete the driver software for this device'

d. Download & install the latest Audio drivers based on your system model, here

Enable Waves MaxxAudio

a. Right-click on Start and go to task manager. Click on startup and enable Waves MaxxAudio

Need further assistance? (In warranty systems only)
If the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, click the "Get Help Now" option at the bottom right to start a LIVE chat session. Ensure that you keep your PC/Monitor/accessory Service Tag available. If no Service Tag is found, have your Dell order number ready.

P75F is not the model number.  It would be a 4 digit number such as I have a 5577 model.

Are you getting a popup when you plug in the headset?

If not, check the Task Manager and see if any Startup items related to audio are disabled.

Then see if you can open the Waves User interface, either from the hidden icons on the Taskbar or the apps listing and MaxxAudioPro and look at the Advanced menu to see if the popup is enabled or use the interface to select the headset, if it shows available.

When I uninstall and reinstall drivers, I download the preferred driver and then go offline until the new driver is in place.

I have almost the same issue. I get little bit sound not much as it should have. What can I do in order to get the sound louder?

I had similar issue in my precision 7540 with Windows 10 (installed from the scratch, driver package from dell appilied).

In my case, i installed "Waves MaxAudio Pro for Dell 2019" from Microsoft Store.

Now, when i plug my headphones, i see MaxxAudioPro window, where i can select plugged device.

Best regards,
Maciek

You can solve the problem without restarting the computer.

1. Go to Device Manager. Under sound, video and game controller, find the sound card. Right click on it and disable. The sound card become disabled.

2. Enable sound again by right clicking in the sound device and selecting enable

Enable SoundEnable Sound

Enable Sound

The sound should be in headphone (if plugged in) or to the speaker (if headphone is not plugged in).

Sound disabledSound disabled

Enable SoundEnable SoundSound enabledSound enabled

Sound enabled

This is a quick temporary solution. Probably there is no permanent solution.
