Issue Playing audio via Bluetooth to Receiver

Not sure if this is the best forum to post this, but didn't know where else to start.

The basic info: I have a Dell XPS-15 running Windows 10, a Denon AVR-S710W receiver and Google Wifi. The receiver is hardwired to one of the Google Wifi pucks.

Through iTunes, I'm able to use Apple Airplay to play my music library through my receiver and speakers, but I'd like to play other sorts of music through the receiver & speakers as well. I figured I could do this via Bluetooth and ran into some problems.

I was able to pair the Dell with the receiver, and it not only says Paired but Connected. However, I can't select it as an output device. Though it says Connected, if I go to Sound Control Panel, it shows up in the Playback tab as Disconnected. If I right-click and hit Connect, nothing happens.

As a test, I also tried connected a JBL speaker I have. I had no issues getting that paired, connected or using it. When I look at my Bluetooth devices, the Receiver comes up as headphones and just says "Connected", but the JBL speaker comes up as a speaker and says "Connected voice, music". See the picture:

So far, I've ran the Bluetooth and Sound Troubleshooter (nothing found or fixed). I've made sure all of the drivers are updated, including the firmware for the receiver. Per my Google search, I also stopped and started the Bluetooth service, I removed the receiver and reinstalled it, rebooted the computer and receiver, etc. I've done all of these steps three times just to make sure and I've had no luck getting it to work.

One more point, maybe this is nothing or maybe this is something. When I paired my PC with the my receiver, the name of the receiver shows up on the receiver display (and the TV it's hooked to). Suppose I leave the laptop open and connected to the receiver - if I change the source of the receiver (to video game or TV or whatever), after a short time the receiver automatically kicks back to Bluetooth and connects to the laptop.

Hi Fronzizzle,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Have you been able to run a systems diagnostics yet?  Please run Dell SupportAssist paying particular attention to the wifi and bluetooth sections.  Make a note of any error messages encountered and post back.  If there are no hardware errors, then the computer may be functioning normally.

Since Dell has not tested this computer to work with this particular receiver and speakers, you may wish to contact the receiver manufacturer for support.

If you still require assistance and the system is under warranty, you may contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service request.
