Equalogic Controller failover randomly??

For some reason im having completely random failover of the controllers in one of my Equalogic PS6100.

Was happening every 12-14 days, now it appears to be happening every 4-5 days? its both of them failing over back and forth. very weird.

both controllers are at the latest firmware 10.0.2

Hello,

Please open a support case. Without looking at the logs it's not possible to make a guess on the cause.

I've not heard of any other such cases suggesting not a firmware issue.

Is it actually failing over controllers or is the passive controller restarting  over and over?

That will generate alerts about controller fail over not being available and redundancy alerts.

Regards,

Don

here is the alert i get in my email. keep in mind that the controller is back online and functional in passive mode. next, the active controller will randomly failover to the passive one. it keep flipping back and forth, and the array remains online and active with no data loss.

Hello,

I can't tell from this alone if it's failing over or just the passive restarting.

You would have to either look at the controllers or in the GUI to see if the active was changing from CM0 to CM1 and back again.

Don
