Inspiron 3650, will not turn on after Dell Update

upadate - I have been on the phone with Dell, they are saying there is not a problem with their update. Everyone needs to call them and insist on talking to Level 3 support.

Inspiron 3650 - windows 10

Yesterday morning there was a Dell update, I did the update  & started working in another program. now the computer will not turn on. I did where you unplug it and push the button for 1 minute and still won't turn on. I called Dell and they can fix it over the phone for $150!?!?

This computer is only a year old. Is there anything else I can try. Thanks for any help

Because Alabama123 was working on a system with a specific recent release of  BIOS, v3.9.0. Others in this thread stated they had prior versions of BIOS. So unless/until somebody specifically tests and documents this fix with any other version, there's no way to know if it works with those earlier versions.

BIOS 3.9.0 is an issue.

MECLR1 Jumper must be reset.

On the motherboard there are 3 jumpers, cmclr1 (cmos clear), pwclr1 (password clear) & meclr1 (me clear).

meclr1 is the jumper to the LEFT SIDE of the CMOS and PASSWORD Jumpers.  If you look at the board labels you will see what I mean.

That makes sense. That version is what I have so that's  why the fix worked. At any rate I sure am grateful. Thanks for clarifying it.

THANK YOU for sharing the fix!!!

you save us!!! I had already gave up and bought a new PC. But now, I was able to recover the old PC and recover my precious doc files.

I really appreciate your kindnesses with us and provide the solution that I was waiting from the official provider DELL; which did not even care about their customers if we are not under warranty anymore. WHAT WAS NOT FAIR!!! since we did not wrong to damage the PC.

you are a really guardian angel!!!
