XPS 8500, upgrading with a new model video card
Hi, just wondering if the XPS 8500 would be compatible with newer video cards like the GTX 1660 TI or the RTX 2060?
I know maybe I would need a new PSU but aside from that, any experience?

well first is it possible. the rules are kinda simple in brief mode. here.
the best card (green and power wasted) is GTX1050 (as I type, here , mine is)
The card you named are power hogs. the burn lots of power, and most BE FED just like hungry hogs
that 1660 (20series based) uses 120watts of power,
no CPU model stated, some need 95watts by them selves
the PSU is 460watts on some but many others are 750watt upgrades (popular that with gamers)
are you going to run $60 games that it?
off hand I think the 1660 will run, (if fits)
I don't to fits here ever, as there is no spec. at dell ive seen on slot space allowances. I use a RULER.
looks like yours uses full height cards like my 3020
it looks too it does pretty long cards too like mine, mind does tad over 10 inches.
the other issue on FIT< (complex it is) , is will your GPU block the next x1 slot below, and will that make you unhappy,(IDK) some PC have all PCI-e slots used, for vast reasons. IDK.
what ID do as tech beside power, budgeting,
is look here, see space available then if the 25/35watt stamp is on the slot in white words,, its not.

Hi, my CPU is i7-3770 @ 3.40 GHZ.
My actual video card is a GTX 660.
My Bios is A14
I know there are some space issues in the XPS 8500, but new models of video cards are less bulkier. About the PSU, mine is 460 but I dont have problem in upgrading it also.
Some cards I think will fit withour problem are:

What I would like to know is if there is a conflict with the Bios or the XPS 8500 motherboard with newer cards.
Thanx in advance.

Given the age of this system neither would likely work out of the box.
Earlier cards up to GTX1080 TI work with older dells and upgraded power supply.
This specific Model had BIOS ISSUES with BOTH ATI and Nvidia cards.
Upating bios is dangerous unless you do so with clean install of os without antivirus software OR use FREEDOS installer. You cannot go from A03 to A14 in one step AND if you mess this up your system is DEAD.
CHIPSET Drivers are REQUIRED as is the ME.

The pascal based 1050 series is fine
The 1050 TI 4 GIG card is faster and is on par with 4 gig GTX 680 from 2012
You only need GTX 1030 card that uses GDDR5 (GIGABYTE GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030D5-2GL )

I have all the updates to day without problem. I thought the problema with GTX 1660 TI o RTX was that both need UEFI boot. Doesnt the XPS 8500 bios have both, UEFI and legacy modes?
Thanx in advance
