Is it possible to upgrade a I3 2328 CPU TO a I3 3210?
Hello, I am having an old computer, DELL Inspiron 3420 running a Windows 7 Professional 32bit with the hardware below: 0VRTT1 chip H61 motherboard SSD Vaseky 240GB, SATA 3 6GB/S 6GB memory of KINGSTON I3 2328 CPU 2.2Ghz, 32nn Technology, Intel Graphics 3000 (Onboard), 4 threats - 35.0W MAX I want to upgrade my CPU to a 3th gen I3 3210 3.2Ghz with 22nn socket 1155. I don't know does the motherboard support socket 1155 and 22n Tech, but on the network, I had read some articles that said the upgrade CPU must be same at the socket that motherboard support. That's why I am here. Thank you. Respect, DELL User

Sorry @Rainimator but the closest system I can find is an Inspiron 15 3542.
Since I do not have your model I can not say for sure what CPU will work.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Rainimator
They both have "G2" sockets but I am not sure if you can go from 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen???
This is your CPU list of upgrades:
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_i3_Mobile/i3-2328M.html
This is the one you want to upgrade too.
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_i5_Mobile/i5-3210M_(PGA).html
The "TDP" is the same but the "Steppings" are not???
You could always try and if it doesn't post then you know it will not work.
Best regards,

@Rainimator
That one looks like it would have a higher success probability.
And a nice improvement in performance.
Core i5-2540M ~ 133%
I have most of the CPU's in your list of upgrades.
But I am not sure if I have your model laptop in my warehouse to test???
I can check Monday morning and let you know then.

Do you have a I5 3570? If you have, can you test for me? If you don't have my model, just test with a H61 motherboard. It's is a good choice for CPU but no more out VGA because it included onboard.

Sure, but it will take more money because I think it doesn't support onboard.I think I5 3210 should be better when I am on this site http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-3210M-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2540M. In my country, the CPU i5 3210 = i5 2540 (money). The bus (info between RAM and CPU) higher when in 3210. 3210 released at June 2012, so I think some of the most disadvantages of 2540 has been fix and 3210 released. Seem good for 3210, but I don't know a IVY BRIDGE can fit a SANDY BRIDGE with an older 22nn Technology. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
