Data Domain 640 Email Alert issue w/ Office 365

Hey,

I'm trying to setup email alerts on a Data Domain 640.  We use a cloud hosted exchange with Office 365.  The mail server is set as smtp.office365.com.  The Admin Email is datadomain@ourcompany.com and I left the Admin Host blank.  On other systems I set the port as 587, use SSL and enter credentials, is there not a way to do this with the DD OS?

Hi,

I know that this is an old thread, but just wanted to share the solution i've got for a DD 2200, which i think should be the same a other DDs.

On a 2012r2 server, i've installed the SMTP server role, and setup the connection to Office 365. From there the Datadomain is now able to relay through the local server to send emails.

can you please walk me thru on what exactly you did from the Datadomain for it to work for outbound email?

Sorry to bother you but   i am having problem setting up auto_support for datadomain with office 365. I was wondering if you can provide more details on how you were able to get the auto_support outbound email notification to work with office 365.

Hello there!

In DD OS 7.0, we have added additional support for SMTP encryption method STARTTLS.

When configuring the mail server, one can use "config set mailserver"

  config set mailserver [ ] [user ]
                                       Set the mail (SMTP) server
If the mail server uses the different port number than default smtp port 25, one can add "port" argument to set it. For example,

config set mailserver smtp.office365.com port 587 user ddasup
Enter the password for the Mail (SMTP) server:
The Mail (SMTP) server is: smtp.office365.com

I tried the above on my DD and got "server refused to accept the message data". Anyone else tried using office365?

How sure are you of this ? I see no mention in the DDOS 7.2 Admin guide about supporting SMTP TLS or SMTP STARTLS for sending emails.

We had to set the 'Admin Email' to be the email address of the account we were sending from in Office 365 and it sent successfully.

Been trying this for months and still not successful Dell support has no solutions other than setting up a Hybrid Exchange just to make this work since they require a physical address.

Pra quem assim como eu estava procurando como configurar o DDOS 7.X com email do Office365 e  sempre tendo erro. Segui a sugestão aqui do amigo e funcionou. Configurei com a porta 587. Muito simples

Primeiro mudei o email do administrador e depois refiz a configuração do mailserver com porta 587 smtp.office365.com user - depois a senha
