Vostro 460, No Audio
Hi,
I re-booted my Vostro 460 (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) yesterday and now there's no sound - not on VLC Media Player, Youtube or even during the Windows startup.
I downloaded and installed the recommended Realtek High-Definition ALC887 Audio Driver, re-booted, but there's still no sound.
Any suggestions as to how to restore the audio would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Check the default audio playback device. "Speakers" should be set as default.

Try right clicking on the sound speaker on the bottom right and run the troubleshooter. Also check the Device Manager to see if the sound hardware is working. Make sure you installed the driver from Dell Drivers and not Realtek. Go to Dell Support to get the right driver if necessary
You have an old model computer. Consider replacing it before Jan 14, 2020 when Windows 7 will not be safe to use on the Internet. MS will not issue any updates after 1/14/20. Win 7 is approaching End of Life.
