Dell Perc H740P - replacing Dell HBA330 with 24 backplane - cables not mini SAS
Hi,
I have a Poweredge R740XD with 24 x 2.5 backplane. This has cables A and B from the backplane going into a PERC HBA330 - the cables are not mini SAS.
Just purchased a PERC H740P (P/N: 3JH35) however this has the mini SAS cable ends. So after removing the cables from the PERC HBA330 they are not going to be able to be used with the H740P card.
Original (PERC HBA330)
HBA 330 - not mini-SAS
Replacement (PERC H740P)
PERC H740P 8GB mini SAS
What is the best way of resolving this - do I need to purchase 2 x new cables to run from the backplane to the new PERC H740P and what are the part number(s) for these? I am assuming that there is no way to use an adapter of some kind to convert to mini SAS?
Thanks,
Matt

MJ2020,
The cable needed would be part # HNWWT, and would be routed as seen below.
Hope this helps.

Hi Chris,
Thanks very much for you reply. Assuming I will need 2 x HNWWT cables - one for A and one for B?
Regards,
Matt

Not trying to step on Chris' toes here, but I'm just curious as to which config your system had before getting the perc 740? I ask because we have a similar situation here and need to make changes to our systems too.
Starting on Page 170 of the pdf, what was your existing configuration?
