m15 R3, 30Hz to LG C9 120hz monitor, G-Sync

Hi, so my laptop arrived today (super impressed). There are 3 video output options:
DP 1.4
Thunderbolt 3
HDMI 2.0

My LG C9 TV and can handle 120Hz but only has HDMI I think.....in any case I wish to enable G-Sync. It sounds to me Thunderbolt is the best lead but can it handle G-Sync? I know DP already does but wanted to check here first with you awesome guys.

Also I plan to buy a 240Hz monitor in addition too to make full use of the refresh on offer.

thanks

@Carl1978  Which power setting?

If you want more frame rate, typically you either have to decrease resolution or decrease detail or other image quality settings in-game and/or in NVIDIA Control Panel/GeForce Experience.

No I wouldn’t bother with that adapter. If you’ve got G-Sync available along with 4K 60 Hz and QHD 120 Hz, then that adapter won’t add anything else and might subtract some capabilities given that the guide explicitly says to use the HDMI output on your GPU for your setup.

As for G-Sync and VRR, my guess is that either they will he one and the same in this case and therefore those settings will be linked, or else you wouldn’t be able to choose both.

Yesterday, it felt like I played a PC game for the very first time!!  Seeing 120fps on ultra was so smooth, It’s as much a curse as a blessing!

Ive a feeling the i9 is needed for HDR/RTX/100 FPS at 1440p!  On the bench it was really topping on the CPU

ill try find a guide on tweaking SOTR.

wonder if you can store display setting profiles, be nice to revert back to a state if something goes badly
