Dell Vostro 15 3590 RAM (DVD model) and SSD upgrade

Hi everyone, My old Vostro 3578 broke down so I ordered a new one. My questions are:

1) 3590 comes with 8GB DDR4 2666Mhz and an empty slot. Could I add 8GB 2400Mhz from my 3578? I understand it would run at a slower speed, but will it work at all?

2) 3590 comes with an M2 SSD. Since there is also a HDD variant, can I simply add my old HDD too? The space should be there, but what about the brackets? Or maybe my 3578 brackets would work?

Two years later, replying to myself just in case someone else needs this:

1) 2400Mhz worked OK with 2666Mhz but at 2400Mhz speed. Ended up buying another 8GB stick to have 16GB 2666Mhz in total.

2) Caddy was in there.

Hello Dell cares,

Why don't you just reply to the customer in the forum so other customers with similar problems get the answer and don't have to repeat the question again.

Why have a forum if you don't is it that difficult?

It does, but the SSD mounts to a thermal plate you'll need to verify is present in the system. If it's not, you'll need to contact Dell Spare Parts to order it.

I have 3490 -- system specs regarding storage are same for 3590 also. You can buy m2 nvme ssd (single notch); laptop will support it. Just for reference, I installed kingston A2000 512 gig in my laptop 2 weeks ago. In youtube videos, there are few users who have installed 1tb ssd also. OS Cloning is also a fairly straight forward process. You might not have thermal sheild as seen in the photo from service manual; my 3490 didn't have this.

@ejn63 - India spec laptops 3490s are not coming with that metal thermal sheild as seen in service manual. Is thermal sheild an absolute necessary, should I try to find one & install it.?

If someone using Dell Vostro 3590 laptop, please install HWiNFO 64 software and let me know the Motherboard part number that you see. Because recently Dell replaced my board and I can see that it's a wrong board

Yes you can expand the memory of your laptop.

Recently I have done it for my DELL VOSTRO 3590 from existing 4 gb ram to additional 8 gb ram to make it a total of 12 gb RAM.

Kindly make sure that the additional RAM must be compatible with your system. This is find by checking the invoice of your laptop, wherein the RAM details will be provided.
