Improve Inspiron 5567 ethernet download? much slower than XPS 8930
The Inspiron laptop download speed on gigabit ethernet is no faster than wifi ; 95 Mbps; but XPS desktop is downloading 650 Mbps. XPS has 32 Gb RAM and is a year newer; but laptop has 16 Gb RAM and is 2017. Laptop has in the past hit 250 Gb download speeds on wifi; so it's not limited to 100Gb. I'm using the same ethernet cable for both pc's. Windows 10 fully updated. Any ideas?
It seems ethernet should be faster than wifi; but don't understand why I can't get higher download using either connection.
thanks!

The XPS has a gigabit Ethernet adapter -- the Inspiron has a 10/100 adapter. If you need more than 100 MBps Ethernet, you'll need a USB 3 Ethernet adapter for the notebook.
Manual has the specs:

of course!
thank you!
Will it improve download significantly if used in USB 2.0? Inspiron has no 3.0

It'll still be faster, but USB 2.0 isn't fast enough for gigabit. It maxes out at under half that under ideal conditions and less in the real world.

anything faster will be great. I'm surprised at the lack of speed. It's only 3 yrs old.
