Inspiron 3584, ram, SSD upgrade?

I bought a Inspiron 3584 laptop with i3 7th gen processor; 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 2GB dedicated Radeon Graphics with Windows 10. Laptop is too slow for even using multiple MS Office packages at a same time. So I'm thinking upgrading my laptop rather than buying a new one as I bought this 2 months back. I am thinking of adding another 8GB RAM (12GB after upgrade) and a 250GB SSD along with the existing HDD.  Will this be a worthy upgrade or will it be an overkill for a i3 processor? Any other upgrade ideas will be helpful too. Thanks in advance.

4GB of memory is not enough for most applications nowadays. I would at least double it, but replace both memory modules in pairs to avoid an unstable system.

You can add a M.2 NVMe SSD to your system. Moving your Windows installation onto it (or reinstalling Windows from scratch) will provide much faster read and write speeds compared to a 2.5" SATA SSD drive. You can keep the original hard drive installed and reuse it for saving personal files that would consume a large amount of space on the M.2 NVMe SSD.

No, these upgrades won't be overkill for a i3 processor. You will see a big performance increase after performing these upgrades. The slow access speeds of the hard drive is what mainly bottlenecks the performance your computer, but a limited amount of RAM can also bog down performance as well.

See the online Inspiron 3584 Setup and Specifications PDF for memory details.

Have you bought the upgrade? If yes is there any difference after upgrading? Please I bought the same model and now I am feeling I wasted my money on it

@Kflash08 I did exactly the same and it's better now. But I think it is wise to buy higher spec than this laptop instead of spending ₹10K unnecessarily on upgrades.

Hi @KrishnanunniS, Yes I did upgrade and it works too fine. I added a 250GB Samsung 970 Evo plus SSD and additional 8GB RAM and made SSD only for running programs and kept other files(Docs, Music, Videos) in HDD. Now system boots up in 5 secs and pretty much I can run games too. Make sure you got a cooling pad also. I spent ₹9K for these upgrades but it is the only way to make it any good

I bought just 5 months before so I was thinking of taking it to the service center. Did you tried that before?

Can you please explain the part about upgrading both memory modules? What does it mean? Can you please explain it in detail?

Hi, I am in the same boat as you were earlier. Trying to upgrade RAM by 8 GB (so will 12 GB after upgrade). Do you mind sharing which RAM you purchased?

This laptop comes with 4GB DDR4 RAM, we have two slots so added additional 8GB DDR4 RAM in second slot.

Hi. I bought 250GB Samsung 970 Evo plus SSD and Kingston 8GB DDR4 3200mhz. But I was told, as per laptop spec "2133 MHz/2400 MHz" speed RAM my RAM doesn't work inline with laptop as maximum speed my memory work is 2400MHz so please mind the RAM speed before buyig.

I did ask service center. You can upgrade but only what they offer and t would take much time and you my not get best requirement you are asking for. If you don't mind warranty you can upgrade yourself as I did.

You have to install OS through installation media method. Take a 8GB pendrive and download Windows 10 installation package for your OS version (home/pro) and install through USB.
