Aurora R11, upgrading WiFi card?

I gather there's a speed difference between Dell's default WiFi DW1810 and Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650

Just how much of a difference will it make for games like OSRS, Fortnite etc

As you can see, I have accidentally purchased the default option for WiFi, can I just buy the Killer Wi-Fi card AX1650 and fit it ? Can someone post a picture/guide so I can see what I need to replace on the R11s mobo to do this if I decide to please ?

EDIT: i've found this How to replace the wireless card on an Alienware-Aurora R11 - YouTube

that is the spot to fit the 1650x right ? just wanting confirmation this is possible to change myself before continuing with my order

Bought the PC on discount already, presuming if I want to make any changes they'll ask me to cancel and re-submit the order, loosing me hundreds of pounds of discounts which are no longer available

any help appreciated,

kindest regards

"is the default WiFi card in the same spot?"

Yes it is, also it may assist you to take a gander at the Aurora R11 service manual available on the Dell web site.

Killer AX1650x Wireless AX PCIe Network Card WiFi 6 / Bluetooth 5.1 LN109166 - AX1650 PCIe WiFi Add in Board | SCAN UK

I was planning on purchasing this and just using the chip like in the YouTube Video, is the default WiFi card in the same spot?

@ExtraterrestrialEtymology "Killer AX1650x Wireless AX PCIe Network Card WiFi 6 / Bluetooth 5.1 LN109166 - AX1650 PCIe WiFi Add"

Maybe it's just the UK pricing, but that's really expensive!

You can get the most recent WiFi 6E / Bluetooth 5.2 cards (Intel AX210) for $35 USD now, including the pcie adapter pictured.  Wifi 6E will broadcast over more channels than the older AX200 cards (the Killer AX1650 is the Intel AX200 equivalent).

Does that card actually work as a card replacement on the Mobo, as the dell support didn't list the ax210 as compatible via private message i got "Thank you for your time, I see that the AURORA R11 is compatible with DW1810 /Intel AX201/Killer 1650i wireless cards." I understand the card I linked is the 1650x not the 1650i, I've bought the 1650i and may buy the ax210 to test it out, If I do I'll post results back here

All these cards are the same form factor there should be no compatibility issues. Dell would list the cards sold stock with the R11 as compatible as they have been tested and validated, they don't sell the wifi 6E cards yet. They probably don't have time to test every possible product like especially those they don't sell. I suspect they probably soon enough will start selling the new WiFi cards in their systems. I just bought an AX210 card yesterday too for one of my PCs. The 6E cards are actually pretty new, they just the retail market this year.

I guess you are doing this for a better Ping and slightly more speed.

Personally, I would put all this effort and money toward connecting machine to a gigabit router (port) with an actual CAT-6 cable (hard-line Gigabit-1000 connection). After all, it's a desktop (not a laptop or tablet).

My wife just retired a group of i5 haswell custom build pcs.  None of them have wifi.  I'm wiping and combining for low spec family gaming, etc, on machines expected to receive abuse. I'd rather not buy a bunch of wifi cards and I do have lan ports in four rooms but this one is going in a corner without easy access.   The ax210 6e is currently the same price as the ax200 wifi 6 cards, they all seem to be at slightly low because no review yet incentive to buy prices right now.
