Need suggestion to upgrade Inspiron N4050 processor

Hi,

I have Dell Inspiron N4050 with these specs:

  • Sandy Bridge HM67
  • Intel Pentium B950

I want to upgrade this processor with core i3 or core i5. I have a list of intel processors compatible with HM67 but don't know whether all of them will work fine.

See the list: https://ark.intel.com/products/52809/Mobile-Intel-HM67-Express-Chipset

Please suggest 100% working processors with this motherboard. Thanks

Max is 8G as 2x4.

Beware spending a lot on upgrades - the entire system is worth perhaps $30-50.  Much more than that and you're better off with a newer system.

Thanks for the information. Actually, I had some laptop spares at home, therefore I was asking if they can be used in old laptop.

Hi Dear. I have this processor. Can you please confirm the Model Number of it? Because i3 or i5 is not mentioned on it. Thanks

That's an i5-2410m, which should work.

Currently, I have 4GB of ram in it. (2+2) which are both DDR3 PC3-10600S.

What if I Replace both of them with (4+4) DDR3 PC3-12800S? (I have spare modules at home)

Will the system lag or any other drawbacks etc.

Have a similar doubt, i have the same n4050 laptop, but i have an Intel Core i5 2430m, i want to upgrade to a quad-core CPU like the i7 or a dual core i7, but for temp reasons, im not too sure yet.

but i think, if i reinstall windows, the temp problems should be solved...

The only way to upgrade a soldered CPU is to replace the entire mainboard.  The N5040 does not have a soldered in CPU but is limited to Sandy Bridge (2000-series) CPUs.
