idrac8 update failed "failed to get firmware update status"
Hello,
idrac8 is not updating, current version is 2.40.40.40.
I tried to update to 2.83.83.83 and it failed with the message "failed to get firmware update status". Using d7 file at idrac console was useless, nothing happened after i clicked "Install"
After that i tried version by version, including reinstalling 2.40.40.40, but the same error happens.
Reset iDrac button dont fixed the problem.
For last, i updated BIOS from version 2.6.1 to 2.13 sucessfully but the problem to update iDrac remains.

What server did you have? Can you share how (Which interface and method) you are updating the iDRAC FW. Can you reset iDRAC or AC Power Cycle the server and check the behavior?

While using .exe file you need to use file format "Update Package for MS Windows" (iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_DDK5R_WN64_2.83.83.83_A00.EXE). Are you using this file for update? For firmimg.d7 update can you check Lifecycle Log and check any details on FW update failure?

Hello.
Its a PowerEdge R230 server. I've tried using Windows .exe file (failed to get firmware update status) and .d7 file (nothing happens and job queue is empty).
reset iDrac using "reset idrac" button in Summary page? i've already tried that.
The server is on a different site, the better i can do now is cold boot via iDrac. Tried now and still not working, same problem.

Hello,
Yes, the format file is correct, i updated others servers.
For .d7 file, nothing happens. After I upload the file and click "Install", there is no Job in Queue and nothing in Lifecycle Logs.

Can you perform AC Power Cycle and check the behavior?
