Mouse Wheel Button not functional
I have recently purchased a Dimension 8400 with the Dell Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. I am frustrated that I cannot seem to acces a much functionality with the new mouse/keyboard combination as I could with the Logitech units on my old system. I followed the suggestion made on this forum earlier and tried the Microsoft intellipoint driver but it doesn't seem to work - oh the basic mouse functions are still there, and I have the options to use the mouse wheel, but it doesn't respond. I can't find any settings to change ane of the "hot keys" on the top of the keyboard, not that I'd necessarily like to, but they were available on the Logitech unit. There seems to be nothing on the Dell site on this.

What's really strange about this is that on the back of the mouse, it says it was manufactured by Logitech, but in the control panel device manager, it says that it was manufactured by Microsoft. I tried Intellipoint myself, and I experienced the same problem in that the wheel button did not respond. Although, I did notice that it didn't actually change or update the actual mouse driver.

In my original system configuration, it says "KIT, MOUSE, UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS, 2BTN, OPTICAL, LOGITECH," without mentioning anything about a mouse wheel. They must have installed the wrong mouse driver.

I've downloaded and am about to try mw9791enu.exe from Logitech to set my wheel button to double click. I noticed the following from the download WEB page.

Logitech serial pointing devices in Windows XP:
Pointing devices connected to the serial port are no longer supported by Logitech MouseWare in Windows XP. If your device is a combination PS/2 and Serial mouse, we recommend using the PS/2 connection. If your device is serial only, you must use the operating system's native drivers.
Before I install mw9791enu.exe, since you apparently downloaded and successfully used mw9791enu.exe, I was wondering if "PS/2 and Serial" referred to the old "SerialPort" or to today's USB. Does your Dell Wireless Keyboard and Mouse use USB or PS2 base receiver?
