Uninstallation of "Norton Internet Security"

Hi there,

I have just purchased (day before yesterday) an Inspiron 1150. After immediately installing XP SP2 and experiencing the resulting slowdown, then fixing it with the requisite patch, I now feel I want to get rid of the invasive Norton Internet Security that was inflicted on me at purchase time. I have alternative programs that are independant and can be started when I need them.

I have spent quite a while in the past assisting people in the removal of these Symantec programs... is this version the same - in that it will not fully uninstall of it's own accord?

If so, does anyone know of a removal tool I can use?

I cannot do a system rollback, as it came pre-installed.

Thanks for any feedback,

Did you check the symantec site for a manual removeal procedure?

Yes I did look at that, but I had heard that there was a utility that would clean up a partial de-install.

I particularly like the necessity for a 187kb .reg hack to remove 800 lines from the registry. No wonder this suite slows the machine down.

I think I'll stick with SPF and AVG ;^)

Thanks for the response...

I have absolutely no idea whatg this means  "I particularly like the necessity for a 187kb .reg hack to remove 800 lines from the registry"  be regardless I reject your conclusions.  The performance of a program, or suite of programs is not necessaily proportional by the number of registry entries.
