Noticed that during extended use I was seeing 95°C + on the cpu ( distributed computing and video encoding ) with the stock water cooling setup. Tried re-applying the thermal paste but didn't notice an improvement, tried moving the 3.5 in drive down to the bottom of the case hoping that would help the stock setup pull more cool air in. Still no dice.
Gave up and decided I was putting too much heat into such a wimpy cooler, I needed something with more surface area. Enter the h80iv2 a 49mm thick radiator vs the 23mm thick stock radiator
You can't use the push pull setup that comes with the h80iv2, their isn't enough space, but a single fan on a thicker rad is better than 2 on a thinner one.
I intended to use a ML120 Pro fan with the AIO so avoid the bios top fan check issue but was sent 2 regular ML120's. The regular ML120 trip the boot error, but the fans included with the corsair AIO work without tripping anything up during boot.
peak temps at 100% load are sitting around 80°C and due to the corsair fans being quieter, it doesn't sound like a jet engine at full load anymore!
H80I seems like a win to me. A lot more surface area, more coolant volume. Paired with a pro series fan with over 20 more CFM compared to the SP series. Do doubt quieter with better efficiency it would seem. Thanks for Sharing

Wow! Good info. I'm glad to learn this. I guess for Corsair ML120 it must be Pro then.
For you air-cooling to liquid-cooling conversion, Grafton1046, what is powering your liquid pump? Is it the little black connector next to the 4-pin top case fan connector on the motherboard? The official Corsair mounting guide isn't very clear on where to plug in the liquid cooler connectors.

As an aside I've never experienced a startup error with the sp120L corsair fan included with the h60 in the top fan header. I did get it with a number of Noctua fans. I tested the sp120L in an Aurora R7 (note, the R7, 8, and 9 all share the z370 pegatron motherboard).

Note that it's not entirely an apples to apples comparison. The h80i v2 comes with a newer and bigger asetek pump, thicker sleeved hoses, and the pipes shoot straight out of the aio block (h80) instead of being pushed out the side in a flow-restricting connector (h60).
The H80i v2 rad is 49 mm vs 25/27mm for the H75/60. That makes it too thick to fit with two standard size 25mm fans. The radiator box up top in the R9 is too small to accommodate 100mm without hitting the PSU swing arm contraption when you close the case.
Yeah, everyone I've seen installs it sideways. The intake to the AIO on the H60/75 can be rotated so there's no pressure on the CPU. The H80i v2 tubes stick straight out of the AIO so I can see there being extra pressure on the CPU if you go that route.

You might try removing the CPU fan, putting the AIO in the CPU fan header, radiator fan in the top fan header, pump fan empty, and then clearing CMOS.
