AW2721D, FX Display issue
I cannot control the FX Lights on my monitor using AWCC. I can change them using the JoyStick on the back of my monitor, but the customization options are limited. AWCC prompts me to update the FX Display upon opening. When I allow it to update, I get the message "Looks like you already own this", but it will try over and over again to update FX Display anyway. The FX menu is grayed out and I cannot click on it or change the colors. There is a workaround where I can click "edit the Default Theme" it is stuck on, but when I go to that screen, I can access the FX menu but those options are also grayed out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers and AWCC multiple times. I have contacted Dell support and their only suggestion was unhelpful, which was to exchange my monitor. This is not a hardware issue, as the lights work and can change with the use of the JoyStick. It seems to me to be purely software. I also have the USB 3.2 Gen1 upstream connector plugged into my monitor and PC, and I have tested the USB ports on the monitor to make sure they work and they do, so I don't think it's an issue with that either.
I think its also important to note that AWCC is just fine before I install the AlienFX Lighting Manager Communication Driver. I can't change the colors or anything, but the constant update prompting isn't happening. Then once I install the AlienFX Lighting Manager Communication Driver the issue comes back.
Wondering if anyone here has any suggestions or thoughts? I'll include my build in case someone knows if there's some weird compatibility issues I'm not aware of.

I could be wrong on this, but I did not think that AWCC would work with a non-Dell system.
That could be your issue, since it seems you are using a retail ASUS board and other retail components.

The answer on how to get this working is to download all of the Drivers and Utilities listed for the AW2721D and install them all, starting with the optional one "Alienware Gaming Monitor Control Center Communication Driver".
This provides the AlienFX Display component that is missing when you've only installed AWCC and the Monitor driver.

OK, so even though my post above does "work", if you try to also use AWCC for other devices (like a headset, in my case the AW510H), you will likely run into an infinite loop of not being able to get AWCC and Sound Center working.
The solution that worked for me was as described here:

In short, do not install the version of AWCC directly from the Dell website. Uninstall it and any other AWCC components you may have installed direct from Dell, then install Alienware Command Center from the Microsoft Store. Annoyingly, this wasn't found via search directly in the Microsoft Store app in Windows 10 for me, I had to search via google "Alienware Command Center Microsoft Store" and locate it that way, then install it. It will then install the required components for all Alienware devices you have connected to your machine.
