Alienware 18 No Video

On start-up there is a single beep, then after about a minute there is 2 fast beeps. I can hear the fans and system running. Screen is black, no backlight. There isn't 8 beeps. Can't figure this out. This occurred after the power in my room shut off suddenly and turned back on immediately, power surge maybe? Tried holding the power button for 15-20 seconds. Didn't do anything.

It's not a continuous beep. The beep codes only apply if it continually beeps. I actually spoke to someone from Dell. It was just a normal start-up beep. And I figured out my problem, I had to downgrade my GPU. After I did that, the screen turned on again.

Two beeps is usually a memory error.

Unplug, remove or disconnect main battery, and hold the power button for 30 sec.

Remove and reinstall the memory module(s).

    Try powering up again.

If you get the same 8 beeps, see if a screen diagnostic will run (hold the D key through powerup).

That's strange that it would be the memory. I never touched that. I did what you said and reseated the memory. Still black screen.

I think you misunderstood me, I am NOT getting 8 beeps so I can assume it's not an LCD or GPU error, right?

On start-up it does 1 beep then after about a minute it does a really really fast 2 beeps. Not the regular slow beeps.

    Single beep = bad mainboard.

    Just asking,

    What GPU was it?

and have you updated the BIOS to its latest version.
