I can't seem to find an Alienware R17 S2 in Dell knowledge base. Please list exact Dell model number and version of windows. You could this by entering service tag number onto the link below. You should be able to see exact Dell model number in your Dell Product Support page.

    In the meantime...

    1. Power off system. Remove all peripherals such as printer, external drive, flash drive,  etc….

    2. Remove AC adapter and battery.

You could view battery removal in the service manual of your Dell Product Support page - manuals  & documents

    3. Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds

    4. Replace battery, adapter, power on system.

Press and Hold the Fn key while turning on the system, let go when you see the Alienware logo

Please check if there's an BIOS recovery tool on the system by following the steps in link below:

BIOS Recovery options on a Dell PC or Tablet | Dell US

If there's no BIOS recovery tool on the system, try to get into the BIOS setup (F2 KEY) or Dell Preboot menu(F12 key) by following the steps below:

    1. Power on system, quickly start tapping F2 key ( or F12 diagnostic) continuously until you see the BIOS setup.

    2. If successful, reset BIOS to defaults by following steps in link below

If you aren't able to get into BIOS setup (F2 key) or Dell Preboot menu (F12 key), I suspect motherboard is faulty. However, if you're comfortable removing parts inside the computer then I suggest removing battery by following the steps I've posted above to see if that will get the computer up and running again. Please view battery removal in the link below.

If removing battery doesn't work, I suggest reseating coin cell (CMOS) battery.

    1. Remove coin cell (CMOS)battery

    2. Press the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain all residual power from the system

    3. Wait about 5 minutes ( or over night) and then replace coin cell battery. Assemble the unit and verify functionality.

Note: When the system is powered on, it will warn that the date and time is not set, indicating a successful reset
